Listeria Bacteria Detected in Tahsildaroğlu Classic White Cheese
It has been discovered that the 'Classic White Cheese' product of Tahsildaroğlu, one of Turkey's leading dairy producers, contains listeria bacteria. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that all cheese with the same batch number was recalled from markets and destroyed. This situation came to light after a cancer patient who consumed Tahsildaroğlu-branded Classic White Cheese purchased from a chain market experienced food poisoning and was hospitalized. Following the patient's complaint, an examination by the Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry found 'listeria' bacteria in the cheese. Listeria bacteria are commonly found in foods such as dairy products, raw meat, and processed meat, and can cause serious health problems, especially in people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, the elderly, and infants. Listeriosis can lead to premature birth, miscarriage, or serious health problems in babies. Symptoms include fever, muscle pain, headache, and nausea. Treatment usually involves antibiotics. Listeria bacteria are a type of bacteria that can cause foodborne infections. The infection caused by this bacteria is known as listeriosis. It is possible to protect against this bacteria by following food safety measures and handling risky foods carefully. The precautions taken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will contribute to the protection of consumer health.
