Salmonella Outbreak in the US: Hundreds of People Infected Across 27 States Due to Jalapeno Peppers

A salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeno peppers imported from Mexico has spread across 27 states in the US. According to the CDC, 345 people have been infected and 36 have been hospitalized so far. The CDC announced that the investigation into the multistate salmonella outbreak is ongoing. The source of the outbreak has been identified as jalapeno peppers grown in the Sinaloa region of Mexico and distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors based in California. The jalapeno peppers were distributed to various restaurant chains, and after the outbreak, both chains removed the affected jalapeno peppers from their menus as a precautionary measure.
