Zaharova: Why Those Who Mourn European Terror Attacks Do Not Show the Same Sympathy for Starobelsk

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized the silence of the Western cultural world over the attack by the Ukrainian army on a student dormitory in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR). Zakharova questioned why Western cultural representatives, who had previously taken an active stance against various tragedies and terrorist attacks around the world, were now unresponsive to the death of children in the LPR. She pointed out that the attack occurred at night when the children were in their beds, and that the perpetrators were aware of the presence of people in the building. Zakharova expressed her inability to understand why those who claim to defend human rights are indifferent to this tragedy, asking 'Does this not evoke any empathy? Or is this a meaningless existence?' The leader of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, had announced that 21 people were killed and over 40 injured in the terrorist attack on the dormitory of a vocational school in Starobelsk.Zakharova also spoke about the derogatory remarks used by Vladimir Zelensky against the inhabitants of Donbass. She cited Zelensky's use of the word 'individuals/entities' when referring to people as an example of his neo-Nazi rhetoric.
