Greek Defense Minister Dendias: Turkey's Acquisition of F-35 Would Not Please Greece

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias spoke at the Economist conference about Turkey's potential return to the F-35 fighter jet program. Dendias stated, "Turkey's acquisition of F-35 or procurement of engines for next-generation fighter jets would not please Greece."In his speech, Dendias said, "Our general approach is that we will not decide what the US does or to whom it sells its arms. This is the duty of the US government. We are asking whether it really serves the US interest. Yes or no? The US people and government should answer this."He further stated:

It is certain that the stability of NATO and especially the southeastern Mediterranean is of critical importance for the US government. Would providing an armament program to a country in the Eastern Mediterranean without a guarantee that it will not be used against another NATO member state serve or harm US interests?
