YÖK Launches Investigation into Banner Incident at Graduation Ceremony

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has taken action following a widely reported incident at a university graduation ceremony.The incident, in which a banner featuring a verse from the Quran was obstructed by some students during the graduation ceremony of the Law Faculty of Yeditepe University, sparked a societal debate.

Universities are institutions where different views and beliefs are freely accommodated. It is absolutely unacceptable to tolerate the erosion of our young people's rights to faith, expression, and education, which are guaranteed by the constitution.

YÖK announced that it has initiated an investigation into this incident.
