YKS 23rd Question Crisis: Lawsuit Filed Against ÖSYM, Will the Question Be Canceled?

The Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection, and Placement Center (ÖSYM) has sparked controversy among university candidates. Following the announcement of the cancellation of a question in the Turkish Language and Literature-Social Sciences-1 test and the change of the correct answer of a derivative question in the AYT Mathematics test, a lawsuit was filed against ÖSYM. University candidate Doruk Kerem Atam, who initiated the lawsuit, argued that only changing the option did not yield a fair result and that the 23rd derivative question should be completely canceled. Legal experts and education specialists stated that in such cases, administrative courts usually tend to rule in favor of canceling the question to prevent mass victimization of candidates. The court will examine the plaintiff student's allegations, request an official defense from ÖSYM, and appoint an academic expert committee to thoroughly investigate the matter. After the expert's detailed technical report is submitted to the court, a final decision will be made within 15 days. ÖSYM has completed its preparations for any scenario that may arise from the judiciary.
