6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Off New Zealand Coast

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of New Zealand's North Island, in the Kermadec Islands region, but did not trigger a tsunami warning. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was located off the coast of the Kermadec Islands. The USGS reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 226.1 kilometers. There were no reports of casualties or damage. The Pacific Ocean's 'Ring of Fire' is a seismically active region that is prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity, making it one of the most geologically active regions in the world.
