Major Operation Against New Generation Crime Organizations: $5 Billion 66 Million Money Laundering Uncovered

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that comprehensive operations were carried out in Ankara and Istanbul against new generation crime organizations. Minister Gürlek stated that 117 suspects were targeted and 28 people were detained in the operation. 'We are not only cutting off the street-level triggers of the gangs but also their financial lifelines' said Minister Gürlek, emphasizing that the fight against organized crime is being carried out with determination. According to the MASAK reports, it was discovered that $5 billion 66 million in money laundering was managed during the operations.Minister Gürlek said, 'We will continue to pursue those who disturb the peace of our nation, exploit our citizens with unfair gains, and push our youth into crime, within the boundaries of the law.' He congratulated the Ankara and Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutors' Offices, the Ankara Provincial Police Department, the Istanbul Gendarmerie Command, and all public officials who contributed to the operation.
