Illegal Betting Operation: 26 People Detained in 8 Cities

An operation was carried out in 8 cities, coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, against suspects who sent illegal betting advertisements to citizens via 0850 numbers. The Istanbul Police Department's Cybercrime Unit launched an investigation to catch suspects who promoted illegal betting.It was determined that messages sent to citizens' cell phones encouraged illegal betting. The teams found that bulk messaging panels provided by telecommunications companies were used through various phone lines.After technical and physical follow-up work, the identities and addresses of the suspects were determined. Based on the information obtained, simultaneous operations were carried out in Istanbul, Ankara, Balikesir, Izmir, Kirikkale, Mugla, Konya, and Bursa. 26 suspects were detained in the operation.
