Decisions of YAŞ Announced: Turkey's First Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı Promoted to Brigadier General

Important decisions were made at the YAŞ meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The meeting discussed promotions, extensions, and retirements of generals, admirals, and colonels in the Turkish Armed Forces. Pursuant to the decisions approved by President Erdogan, 25 generals and admirals were promoted to higher ranks, and 69 colonels were promoted to general and admiral ranks, effective August 30. Alper Gezeravcı, Turkey's first astronaut, was also promoted to brigadier general. The decisions will be effective as of August 30, 2026.
