Artificial Intelligence and Job Loss: The Number of Lost Jobs in the US is Increasing

As of May, 87,714 people in the US have lost their jobs due to artificial intelligence. This has prompted the establishment of the RAISE US platform, led by technology companies, to provide a $1 billion fund for the re-education of workers who have lost their jobs.
The impact of artificial intelligence on the US labor market is becoming increasingly apparent. The number of job losses due to artificial intelligence has reached a record high as of May. Artificial intelligence has been the leading cause of job losses for three consecutive months. The total number of job losses in the first five months of the year has risen to 123,653. This represents a 66% increase compared to the same period last year.
Following the release of employment data, leading companies in the field of artificial intelligence have taken action to support workers who have lost their jobs in acquiring new skills. A non-profit organization called RAISE US was established on June 25, led by former US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and former Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.
The platform, supported by Amazon, Anthropic, Microsoft, and the OpenAI Foundation, aims to create a total of $1 billion in funding. It has been announced that more than $500 million of the fund has already been committed.
