Regulations for the Use of Foreign Licensed Vehicles Clarified

Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi announced that the principles for the use of foreign licensed vehicles have been clarified in a way that will make life easier for citizens.Minister Çiftçi stated on his social media account that the requests from Turkish citizens living abroad and the problems with penal proceedings in practice were conveyed to the Ministry of Trade.

We have provided significant convenience to our expatriate citizens. As a result of the meetings held between our two Ministries, we have clarified the principles for the use of foreign licensed vehicles in a way that will make life easier for our citizens. Accordingly, provided that the right holder is in Turkey, the spouse, ancestors, and descendants living abroad can use the vehicle even if the right holder is not in the vehicle. If the right holder is in the vehicle, other people living abroad can also use the vehicle without any kinship requirement. Additionally, in emergency situations and for the duration of such situations, if the vehicle owner is in the vehicle, the use of the vehicle by the spouse, descendants, and ancestors residing in Turkey will not be subject to penal proceedings.

The new regulation on the use of foreign licensed vehicles is said to provide significant convenience to expatriate citizens.
