US Pledges $150 Million in Aid to Venezuela After Devastating Earthquakes

Venezuela was hit by two major earthquakes. The US has pledged $150 million in aid to Venezuela.The US Department of State announced that $50 million of the aid will go to local relief organizations, while $100 million will be contributed to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) joint fund.The US has also deployed two urban search and rescue teams.

In addition to providing emergency search and rescue, air transport, and coordination support, the US is mobilizing $150 million in aid to Venezuela through its aid partners.

The earthquakes in Venezuela have resulted in at least 188 deaths and approximately 1,500 injuries, with many buildings damaged.
