Authorities have reported that search and rescue operations are ongoing, with concerns that the death toll may increase.Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez announced on social media that the number of fatalities has increased by 139 to 5,069.Rodriguez stated that 16,740 people were injured in the disaster and that health and rescue teams are working intensively in the affected areas. Citizens are being warned not to travel to the affected areas, especially La Guaira, to allow for uninterrupted search and rescue operations. According to national media reports, the critical Maiquetia Simón Bolívar International Airport, which is vital for national and international air traffic, has not yet reopened due to significant damage.
