Venezuela is working to recover from two devastating earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5. Presidential Commissioner Delcy Rodriguez announced on state television VTV that a $200 million fund, including resources from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will be established to finance reconstruction efforts in areas affected by the earthquakes. The earthquakes caused significant damage, particularly in the northwestern part of the country, resulting in at least 32 deaths and over 700 injuries, according to official reports. The number of fatalities may increase as search and rescue teams continue their work. The Venezuelan government stated that the fund will prioritize the reconstruction of damaged transportation networks, public buildings, energy infrastructure, and basic services. International financial support is expected to play a crucial role in the country's recovery process, given its ongoing economic struggles and sanctions.
