University Doors Reopen: Student Amnesty Bill Moves Forward

The long-awaited student amnesty bill has been submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. This proposal will now allow all students who did not benefit from previous amnesties to have a second chance.The details of the student amnesty proposal were shared by AK Party Group Deputy Chair Özlem Zengin. Students who benefit from this arrangement will be able to start their education in the 2026-2027 academic year.After the bill becomes law, students will have 4 months to apply to the university where their enrollment was previously terminated. Those serving in the military can also apply within 2 months after completing their service.It is also stated that students who return with the amnesty may be given the right to change fields, and those with sufficient points can switch to different programs of the same score type.
