IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi Condemns Attack That Killed Zaporizhzhia NPP Chief Engineer

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi condemned the attack that killed Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Chief Engineer Aleksandr Yakovlev. Grossi described the incident as “unacceptable” and called for an immediate cessation of all attacks on nuclear facilities and personnel.The IAEA, following the attack that resulted in Yakovlev’s death, reiterated its warning that all attacks on nuclear facilities and personnel, which pose a significant risk to nuclear safety, must be stopped immediately. Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev had previously stated that Yakovlev’s vehicle was targeted by a Ukrainian drone.
