US Military Shipments to Ukraine Halved

The delivery of military equipment to Ukraine under a key US program has slowed by half.Reports prepared for the US Congress revealed a significant decline in the pace of shipments under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).The USAI program has become the main channel for US military aid to Ukraine, with the Pentagon ordering the necessary weapons and ammunition directly from defense contractors instead of drawing from its own stocks.Since the program began in 2022, the US Congress has allocated a total of $32.49 billion for this purpose. As of the end of March, the Pentagon had signed contracts for almost the entire amount, but payments to manufacturers stood at $19 billion.
