Sergey Koretskiy Becomes Ukraine's New Prime Minister
The Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, approved Sergey Koretskiy as the new prime minister. Koretskiy replaced Yuliya Sviridenko, who was dismissed from her post. Koretskiy's close relationship with Timur Mindich, a key figure in Ukraine's corruption scandal, has sparked criticism. Koretskiy's past as the head of Naftogaz and his connections to certain files linked to corruption allegations have also come under scrutiny. With the support of 289 MPs, Koretskiy was approved to form a government. This appointment concludes the process that began with Sviridenko's resignation on July 14, which led to the entire cabinet's resignation.
