Ukraine's NATO Membership Prospect Currently Non-Existent

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated in an interview with the German press that Ukraine's chance of joining the alliance is currently non-existent. Rutte pointed out that there are significant obstacles to Ukraine's membership, emphasizing that a unanimous decision from all member countries is required for Ukraine's full membership. He stated, "At the moment, there is no consensus support for Ukraine's full membership."
The NATO Secretary-General noted that the United States, Germany, and some other member countries are opposed to Ukraine's accession, and therefore, such a perspective does not currently exist. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously stated that Ukraine's potential NATO membership would pose a direct threat to Russia's national security. Putin had emphasized that this security threat was one of the main reasons for the special military operation launched against Ukraine.
