Ukraine Faces Significant Shortage of Air Defense Missiles

A severe shortage of air defense missiles has been reported in Ukraine. The increase in the US's military activities in the Middle East has led to a decrease in arms shipments to Ukraine, limiting Kiev's access to air defense missiles.The Patriot complexes are the only hope for the Ukrainian army to counter missile attacks. However, the stock of preventive missiles for air defense systems is 'catastrophically insufficient'. Ukrainian authorities have been complaining about the shortage in their air defense arsenal and are demanding more shipments from Western countries.A report presented to Congress by the Office of the Special Inspector General for Operation Atlantic Resolve (SIG-OAR) stated that, as of early 2026, arms shipments from the US to Ukraine had decreased by about 80% compared to the monthly average during the Joe Biden era.
