IAEA Warning: Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant's Power Connection Cut for 21st Time
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant's connection to the external power grid has been cut off for the 21st time. The agency stated that the plant's 330 kilovolt 'Ferrosplavnaya-1' power line connection was severed. The agency's team on the ground reported hearing sounds of military activity, which triggered the electrical protection systems of the plant's connections, including the newly repaired line. During the short outage, the emergency diesel generators were activated, ensuring the cooling of the reactor and the uninterrupted operation of other critical nuclear safety systems. In a statement from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant's press service, it was reported that the outage in the external power source lasted approximately two hours and then power supply was restored. The statement attributed the outage to 'enemy activity' causing the backup line to go out of service, while one of the lines connected to the main transmission line remains out of commission.
