Technical Services Demand High Fees After Turksat Satellite Changeover
A significant change has occurred in Turkey's television and radio broadcasting. The 18-year-old Turksat 3A satellite has completed its technological lifespan, and the broadcasts have been transferred to the 4A satellite, causing the screens of millions of homes to go black. Those who could not find channels applied to technical services, and in Istanbul, fees of up to 1,000 TL were demanded for a simple frequency adjustment. This situation has created a significant problem, especially for citizens who are distant from technology or elderly. The closure of the Turksat 3A satellite and the transfer of broadcasts to new generation satellites have brought a new era for a total of 573 TV and 215 radio channels. Many technology services in the metropolises have started to demand high fees for a simple frequency adjustment made by visiting homes. Experts remind that users can update the channels without paying the fee by using the "network search" or "automatic update" features of their satellite receivers.
