Thirteen Turkish Universities Ranked Among the World's Top 1000

Thirteen Turkish universities have been ranked among the world's top 1000 universities. Hacettepe University took the 585th spot, becoming the top-ranked Turkish university.The Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) URAP, one of the authorized institutions ranking higher education institutions globally, announced its 2025-2026 world rankings. "The world's best universities" rankings saw 13 Turkish universities make it into the top 1000. Hacettepe University ranked 585th, becoming the country's top-ranked university. It was followed by Istanbul Technical University, Ankara University, Gazi University, Koç University, Istanbul University, Ege University, Atatürk University, ODTÜ, Health Sciences University, Near East University, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, and Yıldız Technical University.The universities that followed Hacettepe University in the global rankings are as follows: "Istanbul Technical University ranked 710th, Ankara University 748th, Gazi University 824th, Koç University 832nd, Istanbul University 890th, Ege University 891st, Atatürk University 894th, ODTÜ 936th, Health Sciences University 958th, Near East University 971st, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa 977th, and Yıldız Technical University 981st." Additionally, a total of 128 Turkish higher education institutions were ranked among the world's top 3000 universities in the URAP global rankings. The top-ranked university in the URAP rankings was Harvard University from the United States.Zhejiang University from China ranked second, followed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, also from China, in third place, and Tsinghua University in fourth. The University of College London from the UK ranked fifth, the University of Toronto from Canada sixth, Oxford University from the UK seventh, Peking University from China eighth, Stanford University from the US ninth, and Sun Yat-sen University from China tenth.
