The Number of Syrians Under Temporary Protection in Turkey Has Been Announced

Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi announced that there are 3 million 632 thousand 64 foreigners with legal stay in Turkey. Çiftçi stated that 2 million 264 thousand 983 of this number are Syrians under temporary protection.The Minister, along with AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Abdulhamit Gül and some members of parliament, provided information on the work of the Immigration Administration and the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency.Çiftçi stated that current data on migration management and border security in Turkey were shared. The Minister stated that 1 million 425 thousand people returned to their country voluntarily, safely, and honorably between 2016 and 2026.Çiftçi, who stated that the fight against irregular migration and migrant smuggling is being carried out at the borders, in cities, and in the Blue Homeland, also provided information on the work carried out within the scope of border security.Çiftçi announced that a 1329-kilometer security wall has been completed so far, and work is continuing on a 110-kilometer section. The Minister stated that technological capabilities are also being utilized in border security, and the borders are being protected day and night with electro-optic towers, thermal cameras, observation towers, observation vehicles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
