48 Simultaneous Operations Across Turkey Result in 841 Suspects Facing Legal Action

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that 841 suspects are facing legal action following 48 simultaneous operations against organized crime groups across Turkey.Minister Gürlek emphasized that the protection of citizens' peace and security is one of the state's top priorities, as highlighted in the National Security Council meeting on June 18.In this context, on Monday, a circular on "Fighting organized crime" was sent to 175 Heavy Penal Court Republic Prosecutor's Offices in 81 provinces. The Republic Prosecutor's Offices took action in coordination with the police and gendarmerie units.Regarding the results of the simultaneous operations across the country, it was stated that 48 separate operations resulted in 841 suspects facing legal action. Within this scope, 35 operations were conducted under the coordination of 31 Republic Prosecutor's Offices in 24 provinces, targeting the crime of establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime, and 711 suspects faced legal action.Additionally, 13 operations were conducted under the coordination of 10 Republic Prosecutor's Offices in 10 provinces, targeting crimes of a similar nature but not within the scope of organized crime, and 130 suspects faced legal action.Evaluating the outcome of the operations, Akın Gürlek stated that the work carried out demonstrates the cooperation between institutions.
