Nationwide Operation Against Counterfeit Gold: 71 Suspects Detained

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced the operation against counterfeit gold, which was carried out simultaneously in 10 provinces, centered in Kahramanmaraş. Minister Gürlek stated in his social media post that action was taken against structures that deceive citizens and harm the state by producing jewelery gold with less than the required standard and weight. As part of the operation, 71 suspects were targeted for crimes including 'counterfeiting money', 'counterfeiting of equivalent value' and 'qualified fraud'. Many counterfeit molds, illegally minted gold, and items related to the crime were seized during the raids. The investigation, coordinated by the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, is ongoing with meticulousness and in a multi-faceted manner.
