TÜRK-İŞ Reacts to Regional Minimum Wage Demands
TÜRK-İŞ has reacted to some employers' demands for a regional minimum wage. The confederation argued that the implementation of a regional minimum wage would harm workers, laborers, and the country. The TÜRK-İŞ Board of Directors recalled that some employers have recently demanded that the minimum wage be determined regionally, arguing that this demand is not made in good faith, but rather stems from a desire to increase profits.

To bring up or defend regional minimum wage is harmful to workers, laborers, and the country. What should be discussed is turning the minimum wage into a living wage. Everyone who makes a living by working should stand against regional minimum wage plans.

In the statement, which reminded that TÜRK-İŞ objected to the structure of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission and the decisions taken by the Commission, the following expressions were used:

As a confederation, we did not participate in the 2026 Minimum Wage Determination Commission. We took this stance with the idea that the minimum wage should be determined at a level worthy of human dignity and with broader participation.
