Turkey's First Female Air Force General: Özlem Karapınar

The Turkish Armed Forces' upper command and rank promotions have been reshaped with the publication of YAŞ decisions in the Official Gazette signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. As part of the YAŞ decisions, Muharip Air Force Commander General Rafet Dalkıran was appointed to the Air Force Command. The term of Navy Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu has been extended for 1 year as of August 30, 2024. In the Land Forces Command, Generals Burhan Aktaş, Ertan İnaltekin, and Alparslan Kılınç were promoted to corps general, while 14 brigadier generals were promoted to major general and 40 colonels to brigadier general. In the Naval Forces Command, Admirals Ramazan Özoğul and Erhan Aydın were promoted to full admiral, while 11 colonels were promoted to rear admiral. In the Air Force Command, General Erdoğan Gür was promoted to full general, and a total of 18 colonels were promoted to brigadier general. One of the most notable promotions was that of Colonel Özlem Karapınar, who became the first female general in the Turkish Air Force.
