Critical Decisions to be Made in YAŞ: Shaping the Future of TSK

The YAŞ, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will make critical decisions that will shape the command structure of the Turkish Armed Forces.
The High Military Council will convene today at the Presidential Complex. The meeting will discuss the status of generals, admirals, and colonels within the TSK.
The YAŞ meeting will evaluate promotions, extensions of duty, and retirements due to lack of personnel. The meeting will be attended by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin.
The military delegation will include Chief of the General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Commander of the Naval Forces Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, and Commander of the Air Forces General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu.
This year's meeting features new members, including Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi, and Commander of the Land Forces General Metin Tokel, who will participate in the decision-making process for the first time.
The decisions made will be announced publicly after President Erdoğan's approval. The promotions and new assignments approved by the President will come into effect on August 30, 2026.
