Trump's New Gaffe: Japan Islamic Republic

US President Donald Trump made a new gaffe while evaluating the tension with Iran. Trump confused Japan with Iran, stating that 'Japan Islamic Republic' launched a missile attack on a US aircraft carrier.
During his speech at the NATO Summit, where he advocated for new military steps against Iran, Trump said, 'Japan Islamic Republic launched 111 missiles at the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, and all of them were intercepted.'
This statement was seen as a mix-up between Japan and Iran. It is thought that the US President meant to refer to an incident where Iranian forces targeted a US aircraft carrier, but mistakenly said 'Japan Islamic Republic'.
Japan, one of the US's closest allies since World War II, is a constitutional monarchy with a small Muslim minority population.
