Trump's Turkey Visit Air Force One Security Breach Investigation

Following reports of security vulnerabilities in the new Air Force One aircraft used by US President Donald Trump during his visit to Turkey, the FBI launched a comprehensive investigation to find the source of the leak. According to a New York Times report, FBI Director Kash Patel canceled his planned visit to Chicago and spent about eight hours at the White House, coordinating the investigation from there. Patel also informed senior administration officials about the process. As part of the investigation, several New York Times reporters who worked on the story about Air Force One's security were served with subpoenas to testify before a grand jury on Friday evening. Some subpoenas were delivered to the journalists' homes at night. Trump had traveled to the NATO Summit in Turkey on the new presidential plane donated by Qatar earlier in the week. However, according to the New York Times report, the US Secret Service recommended using the old plane for the return trip because the new one lacked advanced missile defense systems found in the old Air Force One. The New York Times reported that the new plane lacked advanced countermeasures and that this could pose a security risk, especially on foreign flights. According to the report, Trump was outraged by the publications and wanted the White House to be directly involved in the investigation.
