Significant Decrease in Traffic Violence Incidents: Minister Çiftçi Orders Immediate Action

There has been a significant decrease in traffic incidents involving intentional injury, threats, and insults following new legal regulations. The number of such incidents in police jurisdiction has decreased by 51.6% compared to the same period last year, from 4,806 to 2,328.After the amendments to the 7574 Highway Traffic Law came into effect on February 27, 2026, a noticeable decrease in traffic violence was recorded. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi took immediate action following traffic violence footage and ordered swift intervention.The legal regulation introduced severe penalties for drivers who follow another vehicle with the intention of attacking or get out of their vehicle for this purpose. With the intensification of traffic inspections, uninterrupted inspections will continue in all 81 provinces to counter aggressive behavior that endangers the safety of drivers and passengers.
