Claims Regarding Privatization of Traffic Radar Systems Denied
The Presidency of Communications, Disinformation Fight Center (DMM) denied claims that traffic radar systems would be privatized and private companies would fine drivers. DMM stated in a social media post that the claim was entirely baseless. According to Article 114 of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918, the authority to issue traffic fines is granted only to public officials. Technologies such as the Urban Security Management System (KGYS) or Electronic Monitoring Systems (EDS) used in traffic are only technical infrastructures that detect rule violations. The data from these systems is converted into penal proceedings by traffic police or gendarmerie. It was emphasized that private companies do not have the authority to issue fines. Citizens are advised not to give credence to such baseless and manipulative claims that target public order and institutional credibility.
