New Regulation Aims to Strengthen Social Integration: AK Party's Güler Explains
AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler made statements regarding the 'Bill on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration'. Güler emphasized that the main goal of the proposal is to ensure social integration and unity. Providing information on the application of deprivation of rights, Güler stated that it will continue for a certain period and will last 2 years for those whose sentences are postponed for up to 5 years, and 3 years for those whose sentences are postponed for 10 years. 'Our goal is to integrate, socialize, and unify' he said. Güler stated, 'For those whose sentences are postponed for up to 5 years, the deprivation of rights will continue for 2 years, and for those whose sentences are postponed for 10 years, it will continue for 3 years. This is not an automatic process, but rather the committee will be involved.' He also noted that the restoration of rights is not automatic and that the committee's evaluation is required for the return of rights. Güler also pointed out that no deprivation of rights can be imposed during the investigation and prosecution phases, stating, 'Our constitution's 38th article does not allow us to impose deprivation of rights during the investigation and prosecution phases without a final conviction.'
