Ministry of Trade Warns: These Fees Cannot Be Claimed

The Ministry of Trade announced that additional fees with names such as service, table, or cover charges, which are not included in the price list, cannot be claimed in restaurants, cafes, and similar establishments. According to the statement from the Ministry, efforts are being made to ensure that citizens are properly informed during their shopping processes, to prevent unfair practices, and to strengthen the transparent trade environment.

In the case of openly sold products, the weight of the container or packaging (dara) cannot be included in the pricing. The consumer only pays for the net weight of the product they purchased. An informed consumer is the strongest supporter of fair trade.

The statement also noted that menus cannot be presented solely through QR codes and that businesses are required to provide printed price lists that consumers can see, in addition to digital access.
