A Significant Step Towards a Terror-Free Turkey: The Framework Law is Being Presented to Parliament
The bill on strengthening national solidarity and social cohesion has been submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. This bill is seen as a crucial part of the AK Party's 'Terror-Free Turkey' process. According to the proposal, the sentences of convicts who have committed crimes within the framework of organizational activities may be deferred under certain conditions. If it is determined that the organization has ended its actual existence and handed over its weapons, and the National Security Council Decision is published in the Official Gazette, the sentences of some convicts may be deferred. For crimes falling under the first article, the sentences of convicts who have been sentenced to fifteen years or less in prison may be deferred for five years, while those sentenced to more than fifteen years may have their sentences deferred for ten years.
