Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Challenges New York Mayor to Boxing Match
Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Guy Avner has challenged New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani to a boxing match via a video message on social media. Avner expressed his desire to settle their 'ideological differences' in the ring. As the Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv, Avner stated he would 'stand tall' against Mamdani, saying 'I love America, I love New York, but you, Mamdani, you're a disaster.' Avner directly addressed Mamdani, saying 'I'm after you. There's nowhere to hide, nowhere to run. It's time. You and me, face to face. Let's do this.' Avner suggested the match could take place in Tel Aviv, referencing Mamdani's comments about Netanyahu, saying 'We can do the match in Tel Aviv. Don't worry, you won't get arrested.' Avner also mentioned that all revenue from ticket sales and broadcasting rights could be donated to a charity of Mamdani's choice. The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on November 21, 2024, for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Mamdani had stated that if Netanyahu attends the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York in September, they would 'act within the powers given to us by New York city laws, but we won't create our own laws for this purpose.'
