Shift in Balance of Power in the Turkish Parliament: CHP Falls to 5th Place

A significant change has occurred in the balance of power in the Turkish Parliament. Following the departure of Özgür Özel and 90 other lawmakers from the CHP to form the new party, the political landscape in the Parliament has shifted.The CHP has fallen to 5th place. This change has led to a reorganization of the seating arrangement in the Parliament. The AK Party, with 277 lawmakers, remains in the top spot, while the new party, with 91 lawmakers, has become the main opposition party.The DEM Party, with 56 lawmakers, is in third place, followed by the MHP with 46 lawmakers, and the CHP with 44 lawmakers. The İYİ Party, with 29 lawmakers, is next in line. The distribution of independent lawmakers and other parties is also being rearranged according to this new ranking.This change in the distribution of seats will not only affect the political ranking but also the administrative structure of the Parliament. The allocation of committee memberships, deputy speaker positions, and administrative posts is expected to be rearranged according to this new configuration.
