The Minimum Size Requirement for Building a Vineyard House on Agricultural Land Has Changed

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has made a significant change to the criteria for agricultural buildings. As a result, the minimum size requirement for building a vineyard house on agricultural land has been reduced from 5 hectares to 2 hectares. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's amendment to the regulation was published in the Official Gazette. With this regulation, the threshold for agricultural building permits has been lowered, making it easier for smaller agricultural landowners to obtain permits.Previously, a minimum of 50,000 square meters of land was required for the construction of agricultural buildings, but this limit has been reduced to 20,000 square meters. The amendment has made it easier to obtain permits for agricultural buildings. However, this change does not affect the strict rules introduced in recent months to prevent illegal bungalow, villa, and hobby garden practices on agricultural lands.The regulation also introduces an important provision for the transition period. Accordingly, applications for agricultural buildings and non-agricultural use submitted to the Ministry before the regulation came into effect on April 4, 2026, will continue to be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the old regulation. This change brings a new regulation for agricultural lands.
