Historic Alliance: Impact of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan Cooperation on Regional Power Balance

A development that is seen as shaping the future of the Middle East, the new defense agreement between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan is expected to significantly alter the balance of power in military-technical cooperation. This agreement is anticipated to make the alliance formed by the three countries a key player in the regional security architecture. Former General of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces, Abdullah el-Shaya, evaluated this development. El-Shaya stated that increasing tensions and instability necessitate the formation of strategic partnerships among major powers in the region. He emphasized that the agreement establishes a deep coordination among the parties in political, defense, and economic areas. This step is expected to directly contribute to the strengthening of regional security. El-Shaya noted that the harmonization of positions among the three Islamic countries on critical issues will enable the more effective use of political and diplomatic methods in crisis resolution. He also mentioned that the agreement anticipates a significant increase in intelligence sharing. According to El-Shaya, the goals of this cooperation include enhancing cross-border security, protecting critical infrastructure, ensuring the security of sea lanes, and maintaining uninterrupted global supply chains. The former general underscored that with the implementation of the agreement, a substantial increase in the defense capabilities of the parties is expected, which will enable the effective control of emerging threats and rapid response to regional crises.
