Chain Market Branch Closed for 7 Days Due to Sale of Expired Products

As a result of official inspections carried out in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep, a chain market was found to be selling products that were past their expiration dates, spoiled, and moldy.
Following this discovery, the market branch was suspended from operation for 7 days by the authorities. Inspections conducted by the Şahinbey Municipality Zabıta Directorate teams revealed that the market had products hazardous for consumption on its shelves.
According to an official statement from the municipality, the same market branch had previously been closed for 3 days due to a similar violation, but upon the recurrence of the infraction, a 7-day closure penalty was imposed this time.
Şahinbey Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu stated that the previous closure decision was taken to court by the business, but the court ruled that the municipality's action was in accordance with the law.
This development once again highlights the importance of consumers checking the expiration dates of products carefully when shopping at markets.
