Historic Çukobirlik Building Demolished: Adana's 16-Story Iconic Structure

In Adana's Seyhan district, the historic Çukobirlik building, which had been severely damaged in the February 6, 2023 earthquakes and had been out of use for a long time, was demolished. Following inspections by experts, it was decided to demolish the building due to significant damage to its load-bearing system. For the demolition of the historic building on Turhan Cemal Beriker Boulevard, extensive security measures were taken. The police teams took necessary precautions around the area, and the boulevard was temporarily closed to traffic. Expert teams placed a total of 420 kilograms of explosives on the columns and curtain walls of the first four floors of the building. After the command was given, the explosives detonated, and the approximately 70-meter-high building was demolished in a controlled manner within seconds. An announcement was made by officials regarding this significant development.
