Turkish national tennis player Zeynep Sönmez has achieved a major milestone, rising to a career-high ranking of 48th in the women's world rankings. Zeynep Sönmez moved up three places in the updated Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, retaining her position as the Turkish tennis player with the best world ranking. Earlier this month, Zeynep Sönmez and her Spanish partner Jessica Bouzas Maneiro faced off against Shuko Aoyama and Liang En shuo in the first round of the women's doubles at Wimbledon. Having been eliminated in the second round of the singles at the season's third Grand Slam tournament in London, Zeynep Sönmez and her partner faced 13th-seeded Aoyama and Liang in the first round of the doubles. Zeynep Sönmez and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro lost the match 2-1 (7-5, 2-6, 2-6) and were eliminated from the tournament.
