Historic Moment: Bandırma Vapuru Moved 3.5 Kilometers by Land to New Location
The Bandırma Ship Museum, one of Samsun's important symbols, has been successfully relocated by land to Independence Square. The replica of the ship that brought Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and 18 comrades to Samsun on May 19, 1919, was moved 3.5 kilometers using a 72-wheel independent axle system. The transfer process started at 06:30 and took approximately 4 hours. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Necdet Çamaş stated that the decision to move the museum was based on 8 months of technical work and that they researched all companies in Turkey that could do the job. Çamaş noted that the transfer process progressed very healthily. It is believed that the Bandırma Ship Museum will attract more visitors in its new location. The Samsun Metropolitan Municipality announced that after the landscaping work, the museum will be made accessible for walking around.

I believe that the Bandırma Vapuru, which has around 1 million visitors in its current limited area, will become one of Turkey's most visited museums from next year onwards.

The museum was opened to visitors in Samsun in 1999 and has been an important tourist center ever since. It is expected to attract even more visitors with its new location.
