Tehran and Washington Establish Military Communication Line for Strait of Hormuz

According to Iranian media, a military communication line has been established between Iran and the US to prevent potential military conflicts in the Strait of Hormuz. This development came after talks held in Switzerland last week, facilitated by Pakistan and Qatar. The purpose of the military communication line in the Strait of Hormuz is to prevent incidents that could lead to conflict and to ensure the implementation of security provisions outlined in the "Islamabad Agreement". Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi emphasized that secure passage through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed without considering Iran's role.

Secure passage through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed under ambiguous arrangements, parallel routes, or decision-making processes that do not take into account Iran's role as a coastal state.

Previously, Tehran had stated that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz must use only designated routes. In response, the Omani Ministry of Transport announced that it was working with the International Maritime Organization to establish a temporary maritime corridor. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy deemed the announcement of new shipping routes without coordination with Iran as "unacceptable".
