Sumatra Island in northern Indonesia was shaken by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake in the morning. According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the earthquake occurred at a depth of 158 kilometers. This event followed a 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the country's eastern region a day earlier.Indonesia has been hit by two major earthquakes in the last 24 hours. No official statement has been made regarding casualties or damage from the latest earthquake. However, the previous earthquake resulted in at least 38 deaths and dozens of injuries. A tsunami warning was also issued and later lifted after about 3 hours.Multiple aftershocks have occurred following the earthquakes. Landslides have caused road closures in some areas, and rescue teams have been unable to reach certain regions.
