Bill on Regulations for Children Drawn into Crime Accepted

The Turkish Grand National Assembly has accepted the Bill on the Protection of Children and Amendments to Various Laws, which includes regulations for children drawn into crime. With this law, a new article is being added to the Law on Firearms and Knives and Other Tools. According to this, anyone who allows a child to access a firearm due to their own negligence will face imprisonment from 1 to 3 years if the act does not constitute a more serious crime.An amendment to the Turkish Penal Code states that children between the ages of 12 and 15 who do not have the capacity to understand the legal consequences of their actions or to control their behavior will not be held criminally responsible, but will instead be subject to measures of protection specific to children.
