Social Media Personality Killed in Live Stream Attack

A well-known Mexican social media content creator was shot and killed during a live stream in front of a restaurant in the state of Sinaloa, which is plagued by cartel violence.
The victim, Cesar Gastelum, had around 600,000 followers on TikTok and was recognized for his comedy videos. He was filming with two friends outside a fast food restaurant in Culiacan when the attack occurred.
It was reported that the three individuals were wearing bright orange jackets and backpacks, similar to those worn by food delivery workers. A motorcycle with two people stopped near the group, and the driver pulled out a gun and fired at close range, hitting Gastelum.
A security official from Sinaloa confirmed Gastelum's death and announced the launch of a large-scale security operation.
The killing is the latest example of violence in Culiacan, where factions of the Sinaloa cartel are vying for control. The Mexican Security Cabinet stated on social media platform X that they are investigating Gastelum's posts that may be linked to organized crime.
