Investigation Permit for Two Mayors After Street Animal Attacks

The Ministry of Interior made a press statement regarding the procedures carried out for stray animals. In the statement, it was stated that in the district of Köyceğiz, Muğla, a stray dog attack left an 11-year-old child seriously injured, and 37 citizens were treated for stray dog attacks in the last two years. Additionally, in Narman, Erzurum, a 10-year-old child named M.T. was injured in various parts of the body due to a stray dog attack. Following the investigation and evaluation of these incidents, it was determined that the animal shelter belonging to the Köyceğiz Municipality was insufficient in terms of capacity and work permits. It was also found that the activities for collecting stray animals were not carried out effectively, and veterinary services were not performed in accordance with the relevant legislation. It was determined that the Narman Municipality did not collect stray animals in its area of responsibility for a long time, and due to this negligence, the municipality did not fulfill its obligations under the legislation in the dog attack that occurred. The statement said, 'An investigation permit has been granted for Köyceğiz Mayor Ali Erdoğan and Narman Mayor Aydemir Adem Kınalı.'
